The first time that I went in, they took plenty of time sitting me into the chair, explaining the process, showing me the different elements in the machine and the helmet that they use to supply the treatment.
They kept it really relaxed and calm and joked a bit so that I felt comfortable. Then they talked to me more about the sensation that I might feel during the treatment.
There’s a little bit of anxiety around that, so they took the time to set the system up for me personally. The level of stimulation for each person is slightly different, so they made sure that it worked well for me.
With time, each session became easier and easier. The improvements were gradual but I started to feel it after about two weeks. It’s been five months now and I’ve only gotten better.
From that first call to the fitting of the helmet, through follow up, I felt like I was very well cared for with Active Recovery and that they have my best interests in mind. And they’re very happy today, even to see that I’m doing well.
At Active Recovery TMS, our goal is to provide a safe and effective alternative treatment for depression. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an especially important treatment option for those who have not had success with standard depression treatments like medication and/or therapy.
Our co-founder, Dr. Horey, became familiar with TMS while training and working at Columbia University in New York City where many of the early and important studies on TMS were conducted. Dr. Horey has since completed more extensive training in TMS and keeps himself up-to-date with the latest research on brain stimulation techniques, including TMS.read more
