Does Insurance cover TMS therapy?

One of the reasons you may not have heard of TMS is because insurance companies just started to cover it for their patients. Your doctor may not have even heard of TMS, or they know very little about it and that’s because it isn’t commonly taught in medical schools or in residencies yet, because it’s such a new technology. Insurance companies have started to approve TMS because they recognize that there’s overwhelming evidence that it’s effective in the treatment of major depression. Depression is a disease that doesn’t discriminate between old, young, rich, poor, and everyone in between. It’s the most common cause of disability in the world. Only about 50% of people who are diagnosed with depression get the treatment that they need, and 30% of the people who do get treatment won’t get enough relief from their symptoms. I wanted to provide my patients with another option for treating depression, especially for people who haven’t had success with medications or therapy. At Active Recovery TMS, we provide world class patient-centered treatment. We’ve treated patients of all ages and from every walk of life, ’cause everyone can get better using TMS.

At Active Recovery TMS, our goal is to provide a safe and effective alternative treatment for depression. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an especially important treatment option for those who have not had success with standard depression treatments like medication and/or therapy.

Our co-founder, Dr. Horey, became familiar with TMS while training and working at Columbia University in New York City where many of the early and important studies on TMS were conducted. Dr. Horey has since completed more extensive training in TMS and keeps himself up-to-date with the latest research on brain stimulation techniques, including TMS.
